At Metasonixx, we specialize in engineering advanced materials for superior sound and noise management. Using acoustic metamaterials—hailed as one of the top 10 technologies of the past 20 years by Science and the UK KTN—we deliver precise acoustic solutions wherever and whenever needed.
Founded in 2019 as a spin-out from the universities of Sussex and Bristol, Metasonixx is the culmination of nine years of dedicated research. Our academic collaborations have led to groundbreaking innovations, including a device capable of delivering acoustic messages to a single moving person within a crowd.
We hold four family patents that allow us to transform standard materials such as metal, plastic, wood, and paper into products that block noise while allowing air and light to pass through if desired. This unique capability sets us apart in the industry. At Metasonixx, we are proud to be the “who-you-gonna-call” team for helping companies in managing simultaneously noise and ventilation challenges that cannot be solved with traditional methods, working tirelessly to create a quieter, greener, and more sustainable future for all.
we are designing a World Where Well-Being Thrives
Our case studies have shown that many employees still experience poor acoustics in office environments. Traditional solutions, like booths, are often described as "coffins" and are unpopular with staff. That’s why we created Sonoblind —an innovative and practical way to improve office sound environments while keeping employee comfort in mind. The Sonoblind desk separators are already being tested in noisy workplaces worldwide, including QINETIQ, Chevron, and Autostrade per l’Italia.
Picture an open-plan office, buzzing with noise that makes it hard to focus. With 70% of offices like this, Sonoblind Panels offer a fresh solution—turning noisy spaces into quieter, more comfortable environments where people can thrive.
Leading the Way Toward a Greener Future
Our mission doesn’t stop at reducing noise. Metasonixx is committed to sustainability. Noise has been a barrier to the adoption of green technologies like heat pumps and offshore wind turbines in residential areas. Our materials eliminate this challenge, making green technologies more viable. Additionally, we are exploring greener production methods, including the use of recycled plastics and designing products for recyclability. Our innovations, like SonoBlind Air and SonoFlow, are positioned to become critical enablers of net-zero industrial ventilators and heat pumps.
